The Onan electric fuel pump typically fails around 500 hours. Ours was pushing 600 hours. The parts are cheap, and are easily replaced with some basic hand tools. Our generator would shutdown intermittently, so the first step was to replace the fuel pump, fuel filter, oil, and filter. It ran much better, but ultimately, wasn't the entire problem. I later replaced the entire carburetor, which fixed all the issues. But many people have a healthy generator once again by replacing just the fuel pump and filter, so I highly recommend doing so before replacing the much more expensive carb. I'll show its replacement on another page. |
